Mukuni “Kuni” Mulundika

A self-styled, eclectic personality, Kuni is an experienced soulful solo artist whose music and style transcend any boundaries. As frontman of the renowned “Kuni & The Soul Sessions Band”, Kuni has taken the Zambian music scene with a fresh vibe, countless live shows and a debut solo project which is in the works. His musical journey began at Trinity Church at the age of 8, taking part in Church choruses and plays, picking up his signature soulful sound along the way.

After completing high school in Nairobi, Kenya, he took a gap year to pursue the Musical Theatre and joined Sterling Quality Musical Theatre Company which turned into a 3-year stint.

He took on key roles in revivals of classics such as the Sound of Music, Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat, Aida, Sarafina, and original Kenyan musicals such as Nancy Day’s Malaika, and Danson Kiundi’s the Sunbirds. Here, Kuni honed his singing, acting, and dancing techniques and range.

In 2007 he auditioned for the East and Southern African edition of Idols, making it to the Top 10.

Upon relocation to Zambia to complete studies in Mass Communication, Kuni met and joined legendary Zambian guitarist Uncle Rex who was on the verge of starting a live band. Over the past six years, they have become Zambia’s premier live band, won numerous awards, shared the stage with acclaimed international artists like Zimbabwe’s Oliver Mtukudzi, Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and South Africa’s MiCasa, and released a critically acclaimed album. Whatever Kuni touches turns to fab, which is what viewers can look forward to on Dreams.
